Definitions: |

|
|
| Overall Hose Length: Measurement of the entire metal hose assembly, including all end fittings. |
|
| Live Hose Length: The amount of exposed hose in a metal hose assembly, not including end fittings. |
|
| Pitch: Corrugated metal hose is normally manufactured in Standard Pitch. Each manufacturer specifies a standard number of corrugations per foot based on their desire. This provides for acceptable flexibility while considering economic requirements. |
|
| End Fitting: A term applied to any of the following: nipple, flange, union, etc., that are attached to the end of a metal hose. |
|
| Braid Ferrule: Also known as a ring, sleeve, or collar, this is a ring, made from tube or metal strip placed over the ends of a hose to contain the wires for attachment of end fittings. |
|
| Nominal Hose Inside Diameter: A term used to define the approximate interior diameter dimensions of a metal hose. |
|
| Minimum Center Line Bend Radius: The smallest radius that a metal hose can bend without suffering permanent damage of its coils. |
|
| Hose Outside Diameter: The outside diameter of a metal hose, measured from the top of the braiding. |
|
| Wire Braid: A flexible wire sheath surrounding a metal hose that prevents the hose from elongation due to internal pressure. The braid is composed of a number of wires wrapped helically around the hose while at the same time going under and over each other in a "basket weave" fashion. |
|
| Center Line Radius (CL): This is the minimum bend radius to which a metal hose may be bend when installed in conditions of no movement other than infrequent vibrations. |
